Geylang - Senior Project Engineer (Brownfield Projects, Chemical Plants)
Our client is a leading global engineering solutions provider with a long-standing track record supporting major chemical and petrochemical plant operations across Asia. They're seeking a hands-on Project Engineer with strong experience in brownfield project execution, after-sales technical support, and client engagement.
Position Overview:
You will take charge of post-project support activities for key clients across Southeast Asia. This includes overseeing maintenance (shutdowns, breakdowns, periodic), spare parts logistics, and technical troubleshooting. In addition, you will drive small-scale process upgrade projects, such as capacity enhancements, debottlenecking, and revamps—starting from feasibility studies to commissioning.This is a client-facing role that requires close coordination with internal engineering teams, vendors, and overseas stakeholders to ensure projects and support services are delivered on time and to high standards.
Key responsibilities:
Project Management- Lead brownfield engineering projects, with a focus on mechanical scope.
- Coordinate across engineering, procurement, and site teams to deliver within timeline, budget, and quality standards.
- Liaise with international teams and clients for smooth project execution and reporting.
- Manage technical risk, change orders, shutdown schedules, and contractor supervision.
- Collaborate with technical and commercial departments to prepare project proposals and costing.
- Conduct site surveys, resource planning, and vendor engagement.
- Evaluate quotations and prepare cost breakdowns, BOQ, and bid comparison reports.
- Negotiate technical terms and interface closely with vendors to align deliverables.
- Act as the technical liaison for client interactions.
- Provide engineering advice to internal procurement and field teams.
- Troubleshoot design or supply chain-related issues to ensure timely delivery and performance.
- Organize and oversee scheduled maintenance and shutdown work with third-party or in-house teams.
- Develop maintenance strategies and root cause analyses in partnership with clients.
- Ensure minimal disruption to plant operations by resolving technical issues efficiently.
- Support the documentation of SOPs, internal workflows, and engineering standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training efforts within the department.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- At least 12 years of experience in technical service, maintenance, and project execution within chemical and petrochemical plants
- Strong experience managing brownfield EPC projects and shutdown activities.
- Familiarity with revamp, capacity expansion, and debottlenecking projects.
- Solid mechanical engineering foundation, especially in static and rotating equipment used in chemical/petrochemical processes.
- Background in operations and maintenance in similar industrial environments.
- Open to frequent international travel to client sites for shutdown support and coordination meetings.
