MICE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (EVENTS)
Overview
Gusto Collective Singapore is seeking a well-connected, go-getter, and passionate MICE Assistant Director who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities
MICE Business Development & Strategic Planning- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the MICE industry, leveraging existing contacts, partnerships, and relationships to expand the client base.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the MICE business, targeting new clients and expanding relationships with existing ones.
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive MICE event strategy that aligns with Gusto's overall business objectives, focusing on establishing the business pillar within the MICE sector that drives growth and profitability.
- Oversee project budgets, manage revenue forecasts, and ensure that financial targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Lead and manage teams in the execution of MICE events, coordinating logistics, vendor relationships, and ensuring seamless operations, including areas such as speaker management, registration, and rehearsal oversight.
- Anticipate and address any unforeseen challenges, ensuring smooth event execution and adherence to timelines.
- Identify, invite, and coordinate with high-profile speakers for conferences to ensure alignment with conference objectives, and curate engaging session content, including managing presentation timings and the overall event agenda.
- Collaborate closely with Production to oversee lighting, AV, and technical aspects, including obtaining necessary operation permits and licenses. Ensure production fabrications are produced and set up to expectations.
- Mentor and lead the account team, providing training on MICE-specific accounts and industry best practices to ensure consistent high performance and professional development.
- Collaborate and work closely with the wider Events and PR team for successful event execution.
- Lead the development of a high-performance team dedicated to managing MICE-specific accounts, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional service delivery.
- Oversee day-to-day client servicing, nurturing and building strong, long-term relationships with key clients by providing tailored strategies and solutions that align with their MICE objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring communication is clear, consistent, and that MICE objectives are met effectively.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in MICE event management, either in an events agency or in-house role.
- A strong understanding of global and industry trends in the MICE sector, along with a well-established network of industry contacts.
- Previous experience in the luxury industry is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Marketing/Event Management, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of nurturing and leading teams to deliver exceptional results. Ability to motivate, inspire, and mentor team members in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proactive and strategic approach to problem-solving, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Adaptability and flexibility in managing unforeseen challenges.
- Understanding of clients’ requirements with the ability to execute effectively and efficiently.
- In-depth understanding of the MICE events industry, current trends, and emerging technologies. Familiarity with event management software and tools is a plus.
- Self-motivated and resourceful, with high levels of initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Resilience, determination, enthusiasm, and flexibility to cope with weeknights and weekend work, and the ability to perform under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Attention to detail is critical.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Docs.
