About Outward Bound Singapore

Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) is part of a worldwide adventure-based learning network in more than 30 countries. We are a leader in outdoor adventure education and have inspired more than 500,000 youths over the past 50 years. OBS is a division of the National Youth Council (NYC) in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.

To Serve, To Strive and Not To Yield

This is the OBS spirit we inculcate in the next generation of youths. We do not merely impart outdoor skills, but also encourage youths to start a journey of self-discovery, and build confidence and resilience for a lifetime. Do you love the great outdoors, and want to inspire youths through an exciting career?

Join us as an OBS Instructor today.

Shaping Lives Through Purposeful Adventures

As a professional outdoor educator, an OBS Instructor's key role is to help people gain impactful learning through outdoor adventure experiences. You will start your career by undergoing a salaried training programme to equip you with the skills and knowledge to run safe and quality overnight programmes such as the MOE-OBS Challenge Course; a nationwide initiative for all Secondary 3 students in Singapore.

Training and Career Development Pathway

When you have gained a firm foundation of field experience as an OBS Instructor, you will be able to explore other career options in OBS, in areas such as programme development, staff training, operations and safety, and partnership management.

These varied career pathways will allow you to pursue your aspirations within the outdoor education sector and progress as a field specialist or organisation leader.

3D2N Instructor Selection Process (ISP)

As part of the selection process, all shortlisted candidates must undergo a 3D2N ISP, where they will experience physically and mentally challenging but rewarding activities over 72 hours to demonstrate their abilities. Thereafter, selected candidates will be invited for a final panel interview.

As your safety is our top priority, you may not be able to participate in ISP if you have any of the following medical/physical conditions:

  1. Cardiac conditions e.g. ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, congenital heart conditions.
