Underwriter (Motor) - Pasir Ris

The Motor Insurance Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and assessing risks associated with motor vehicle insurance applications. This role involves determining the terms and conditions of coverage, setting appropriate premiums, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, while delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the growth of the motor insurance portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement Company's underwriting strategy for Motor products
• Underwrite motor business in accordance with the Company's underwriting guidelines and treaty terms
• To maintain underwriting discipline and perform risk assessment for Motor products to ensure that risk assessed is compliant to our company’s and regulatory guidelines
• To work closely with Distribution & Marketing team to ensure that service delivery and production targets are met
• To assist, develop and provide constant review to Company’s underwriting guidelines to ensure that it complies with our underwriting philosophy
• To support new product launches and corporate’s initiatives by establishing appropriate underwriting guidelines for the initiatives
• To help the department to achieve operations efficiency through analysing, reviewing and automation
• Build good working relationship with business partners to achieve production targets.
• To assist on monthly renewal review for Motor line and obtaining the necessary approval prior to sending out the renewal notice
• To work with Claims team to minimize claims
• General regular risk, portfolio review (incl post claims underwriting) and other reports for Management
• Any other ad-hoc tasks / projects related to underwriting as required

Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree / Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration or Actuarial Science
• ACII or Diploma in General Insurance
• Minimum 3 years of in-depth experience for GI in Motor Insurance
• Strong team player with effective organizational and communication skills
• Self-starter with great interpersonal skills
• Work with minimal supervision
• Analytical and numerate, with an eye for details
• Ability to multi-task and work well under tight timelines
