Main Responsibilities:

  1. Trade & Market Analysis
  • Interact with commodity traders and assist in negotiations between sellers and buyers.
  • Monitor and analyze commodity market trends and pricing movements.
  • Negotiate and finalize commodity purchases at competitive market prices, ensuring smooth delivery and fulfilment of agreements.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with buyers and suppliers.
  • Work closely with internal senior traders and other team members to conclude a trade decision.
  • Stay updated on geopolitical, economic, and industry-specific events that could affect commodity markets.
  • Source new suppliers at the best possible cost and expand the supplier base.
  1. Operations & Logistics
  • Prepare, review, and manage trade-related documentation, including Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, Packing Lists, Certificates of Analysis, and Invoices.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of documents with international trade standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers and shipping agents regarding port/scheduling issues before the vessel's ETA.
  • Track shipments and maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient transport of goods.
  • Monitor shipment documentation processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all transactions.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients to provide updates on shipping statuses and resolve documentation-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to international trade laws, shipping and customs regulations, and company policies.
  • Mitigate risks by identifying discrepancies and resolving issues in trade documents proactively.
  • Prepare and manage shipping documentation for international shipments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and handle additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
  1. Reporting and Record Maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of all trade documentation, transactions, and correspondence.
  • Generate regular reports on trade documentation activities and shipment statuses.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of trades and prepare monthly reports on trading results and market insights.
  1. Financial & Documentation Management
  • Validate supplier invoice details.
  • Validate other trade vendor invoice details.
  • Send invoices to customers and follow up on unpaid invoices.
  • Coordinate with Finance/Treasury to ensure trade AP payments are made and customer receipts are allocated.
  • Ensure transaction documentation is properly filed in electronic/hard files.
  1. Trade Compliance & Risk Management
  • Prepare and monitor L/C issuance, handling documentation, invoices, and claims processes.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of Letters of Credit, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to meet LC requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, banks, insurance agents and shipping partners to ensure seamless trade operations.
  • Archive trade details and transaction flows.
  • Prepare reports as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/ Bachelor's in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in Commodities Trading or similar industry.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently.
  • Familiar with global events and market-impacting geopolitical developments.
  • Knowledge of trade finance tools like Letters of Credit.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude.
  • Proficient in MS Office and trade documentation software.
  • Open to travel to overseas and attending social events outside of working hours.
