They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Director - Credit/ Credit Risk Management to join the finance team and contribute to continued growth.
Job Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of credit risk management, working capital optimization, collections, and cash flow management for the company. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong analytical and leadership skills, capable of managing a geographically dispersed team and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.You will play a critical role in ensuring the company's financial stability and driving sustainable growth.
Responsibilities:
Credit Risk Management:
o Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures to mitigate credit risk exposure.
o Conduct thorough credit analysis of new and existing customers, including financial statement analysis, credit scoring, and risk assessment.
o Establish credit limits and payment terms based on risk assessment and company guidelines.
o Monitor customer creditworthiness and proactively identify potential risks and opportunities.
o Implement and utilize credit risk management software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
o Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes related to credit and finance.
Working Capital Management:
o Optimize working capital by improving collection cycles and reducing days sales outstanding (DSO).
o Analyze and monitor key working capital metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
o Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure alignment on credit and payment terms.
o Identify and implement strategies to improve cash flow forecasting and management.
o Manage letters of credit and other financial instruments as needed.
Collections:
o Oversee the collections process, ensuring timely and effective follow-up on overdue accounts.
o Develop and implement strategies to improve collection rates and reduce bad debt.
o Manage relationships with collection agencies and legal counsel when necessary.
o Monitor and report on collection performance and key metrics.
o Implement automation where possible to streamline the collections process.
Cash Flow Management:
o Monitor and analyze cash flow trends and provide regular reports to senior management.
o Forecast cash flow needs and identify potential cash flow risks.
o Develop and implement strategies to optimize cash flow and improve liquidity.
o Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate cash flow reporting.
Stakeholder Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, and finance teams.
o Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including customers, banks, and credit agencies.
o Provide credit and financial guidance to sales and customer service teams.
o Present credit and financial data to executive leadership.
People Management:
o Lead and manage a geographically dispersed credit and collections team.
o Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
o Ensure consistency of credit processes across multiple locations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in credit management, preferably in the Logistics, Freight, Supply chain or related industrial capacity.
- Proven track record of success in credit risk management, collections, and working capital optimization.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit scoring, and risk assessment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in credit management software and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing teams across international borders.
- Knowledge of international trade finance and customs.
