Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production processes, and maintaining product quality and safety in accordance with GMP, ISO 22000 and halal standards.
This role involves managing a team of production workers, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with safety, hygiene, and quality standards in a food-safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations- Plan production schedule, work closely with supporting departments and organizes manpower and equipment to maximize productivity to meet production targets.
- Monitor machine operations and production processes to ensure efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain process consistency.
- Identify and troubleshoot production issues to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Responsible for overseeing annual internal and external audits related to ISO 22000, GMP and halal certifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with aforementioned standards.
- ISO, GMP and halal documentation update, recording and maintenance.
- Ensure all products meet quality specifications and food safety requirements.
- Liaise with URA and SFA and ensure that our licenses with them are updated and active.
- Work closely with the relevant departments to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Train and reinforce hygiene and safety practices among production staff.
- Maintain records of production performance, safety incidents, and quality checks.
- Actively implement quality control and in process quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot machine-related problems and conduct appropriate maintenance works (both in-house and outsourced).
- Maintain proper documentation of machine maintenance logs.
- Lead and motivate production staff to ensure high productivity and morale.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to operators and workers effectively.
- Provide training on equipment operation, safety procedures and hygiene protocols.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Manpower (MOM) workplace safety and health regulations and address any hazards.
- Conduct Risk Assessment and implement control measures.
- Develop and maintain the inventory management system to facilitate the warehouse operations
- Supervise storeroom operation to ensure proper receiving, storage and issuing of materials; our products are heat-sensitive and require a watchful eye on their storage conditions
- Monitor stock levels of production supplies to coordinate with procurement for replenishment when we are low in supplies and to alert sales on supplies that are approaching expiry dates
- Store and move high-value inventory carefully with a forklift and stacker
- Coordinate monthly warehouse counting with our Finance department
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Always on the lookout to improve efficiency of usage of raw materials and minimize waste.
- Implement lean manufacturing techniques to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Prepare and submit weekly production reports to management with key performance indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications & Requirements
Professional Experience- Diploma/Degree in Production Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role in manufacturing, preferably in an ISO 22000 and/or GMP certified company.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Possesses license to drive forklift and stacker.
- Possesses Food Safety and Hygiene Level 3 certificate.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Ability to align production concept with business goals.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, GMP and ISO 22000 compliance and preparation of manuals/procedures.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve production issues efficiently.
