Marine Superintendent (Oil/Chemical Tanker) - Bukit Merah
Our client is a reputable Shipping MNC. In view of expansion, they are currently seeking a suitably qualified candidate to join them as "Marine Superintendent (Oil/Chemical Tanker)".
In this role, your overall responsibilities will include :
- Oversee vetting inspections by Oil Majors of vessels under his care, ensuring vessels meet local and international maritime requirements and industry standards.
- Communicate with relevant oil majors and ensure vessels are accepted by the oil majors.
- Conduct pre-vetting inspections and collaborate with the technical team to address and resolve vetting issues.
- Monitor and support all vessels on operational matters, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to Masters and Navigational Officers on nautical matters to maintain nautical standards onboard.
- Lead safety initiatives, including near-miss reporting and inspections, incident investigations, and quality enhancements.
- Investigate all accidents and incidents, working to implement corrective actions and prevent future occurrences.
- Participate as a member of Emergency Response Team, ready to respond to emergencies.
- Conduct and ensure timely completion of internal audits at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
- Perform ISPS audits and Marine Ship Inspections, Cargo audit onboard at least once per year.
- Carry out Superintendent Navigation audits annually, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Liaise with the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) for policy implementation and assist with training and seminars.
- Attend industry and safety forums, maintaining relationships with oil majors, principals, and industry associations to be at the forefront of industry developments.
- Support fleet operations by providing operational support to the Master and conduct office risk assessments for activities such as hot works and Under Keel Clearance (UKC) issues.
- Coordinate the supply of provisions and fresh water for the fleet, ensuring timely and efficient logistics management.
- Raise work orders for inspections and ensure follow-up on SIRE inspection findings.
- Conduct senior officer briefings, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
- Assume the responsibilities of Marine Manager and/or Safety Marine Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership.
Requirements:
- COC Class 1 with tanker sailing experience
- Ideally 1- 2 years served onboard tanker including 12 months served at a management level (command experience preferred but not a must)
- At least 1-year shore based experience in a ship management company
- Supervisory experience ashore in tanker companies will be advantageous, not a must
- Possess good oral and written communication skills
- Analytical, able to work independently and result-oriented
