About ORMC

The Compliance, Data & Technology Risk unit of NUS Office of Risk Management and Compliance ("ORMC") is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance professional to oversee compliance risk management initiatives. The role is responsible for ensuring that the university is aware of and adheres to all applicable Singapore and global regulations, as well as internal policies and ethical standards.

This role involves developing and implementing compliance programs, working with partners to identify and mitigate gaps and ensuring management of compliance risks.

COMPLIANCE RISK MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
  • Policy & Oversight:
  • Develop, update, and implement compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure oversight of compliance to applicable Singapore and global regulations, including
  • Laws/regulations applicable when operating outside of Singapore
  • Cross Border laws/regulations
  • Privacy regulations/laws
  • AML/CFT regulations, and practices.
  • Export control requirements.
  • Regulatory Change Management
  • Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Identify regulatory obligations, assess impact and advise on compliance.
  • Maintain an inventory of regulatory obligations and compliance with the same
  • Risk Assessment
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and reviews.
  • Support the cloud assessment and provide guidance to the Data Protection queries
  • Review and advise on Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA) and monitor performance of mitigations, where necessary
  • Risk Advisory
  • Provide timely and appropriate advice to partners
  • Review and advise on the standard contractual clauses to ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
TRAINING & AWARENESS
  • Design and deliver compliance training programs for staff and students
  • Promote a culture of compliance & ethics across the university.
  • Support in drafting communications for the NUS community on Compliance matters and updates
OTHERS
  • Support the Head of Compliance in managing incidents
  • Provide support to the Head of Compliance on University/ORMC projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Relevant compliance certifications or training
  • 5+ years' work experience in compliance management
  • Candidates with working familiarity in whistleblowing / ethics would be preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills in understanding and managing challenging business requirements.
  • Self-motivated and driven with good accountability on achieving objectives.
  • Good team player with demonstrated ability to work with various project groups and inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience and knowledge in Personal Data Protection and Data Governance would be an advantage
