GENERAL MANAGER
The General Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and organisational growth at Voices of Singapore (VOS). The General Manager leads internal operations, fosters a high-performance culture, and works closely with the Artistic Director/CEO and Board to translate strategy into action.This role requires strong business acumen, financial oversight, governance expertise, and people leadership, including the ability to motivate teams, drive culture change, and make difficult decisions when necessary.

Core Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Business Acumen- Develop and lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with strategic goals.
- Monitor and manage organisational financial health, ensuring robust cash flow, clear reporting, and compliance with all financial controls.
- Oversee significant expenditures, contract negotiations, and procurement processes, ensuring sound financial governance.
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, supporting the Artistic Director/CEO and Head of Partnerships in balancing creative ambitions with financial sustainability.
- Oversee and lead all HR functions, including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation reviews, and professional development.
- Lead, motivate, and engage teams across operations, finance, HR, and programmes.
- Foster a positive and collaborative organisational culture, aligned with VOS’s values, while ensuring team cohesion across artistic, operational, and community functions.
- Identify organisational needs and implement succession planning, professional development, and performance management systems.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Artistic Director/CEO on HR matters, ensuring alignment between talent strategies and organisational goals.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, including Charity Council, NAC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Establish and maintain effective risk management frameworks, identifying and mitigating potential risks across operations, finance, and partnerships.
- Work closely with the Artistic Director/CEO to ensure good governance practices are embedded across the organisation, including Board engagement and reporting.
- Prepare and present operational and financial updates to the Board, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic goals.
- Work closely with the Artistic Director/CEO to translate VOS’s strategic plan into clear operational and financial plans.
- Continuously review organisational structure, processes, and capabilities, ensuring they evolve to support VOS’s growth.
- Drive operational planning and process improvement, balancing agility with the need for clear systems and accountability.
- Streamline processes across finance, HR, programmes, and partnerships to improve speed, accountability, and effectiveness.
- Work with the Artistic Director/CEO to strengthen relationships with key partners, funders, venues, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure customer-centric thinking across all community engagement programmes, festivals, and educational initiatives.
- Partner with the Head of Partnerships & Fundraising to align internal operations with external commitments, ensuring partner expectations are met.
- Represent VOS when needed in external meetings and engagements.
- Prepare and present quarterly operational and financial reports to the Board, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director/CEO to facilitate Board meetings, ensuring key operational matters are appropriately discussed.
- Oversee Board member onboarding, focusing on internal governance processes and providing operational clarity.
Other Responsibilities
The incumbent may also be required to undertake additional duties or projects as assigned by the Artistic Director/CEO to support the evolving needs of Voices of Singapore. Flexibility and a collaborative spirit are essential to contribute effectively to the organisation’s dynamic environment.

- Able to prioritise effectively, aligning decisions with strategic objectives while staying adaptable.
- A self-starter, comfortable working independently and with senior leadership and board members.
- Strong customer relations and partnership management skills.
- Experience within the arts and charity sector is preferred; however, candidates with strong business or organisational leadership experience outside these fields will also be considered.
