Job Summary:

Mercuria, a global leader in energy and commodity trading, is seeking an innovative expert to combine advanced artificial intelligence systems with efficient computer hardware design. In this role, you will develop intelligent computer programs that learn from large amounts of data and work closely with hardware teams to ensure these programs run quickly and efficiently.

Your work will directly support improved trading strategies and system performance in a fast-paced, real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Optimize Intelligent Systems:

Create computer programs that learn from data to help improve trading decisions. Your work will involve teaching machines to identify patterns and make accurate predictions.

Enhance Hardware Performance:

Collaborate with hardware engineers to design, test, and fine-tune computer components so that artificial intelligence models operate efficiently.

Test and Validate in Real Time:

Use advanced computing systems to simulate and test these programs, ensuring they work reliably in a live trading setting.

Collaborate Across Teams:

Work closely with colleagues from various fields—including AI research, information technology, and business—to integrate software (PyTorch) and graphical processing units (GPU) hardware in a way that benefits the entire organization.

Communicate Complex Ideas Simply:

Explain technical details in energy trading language of the systems developed.

Technical Duties Explained in Layman’s Terms:

Building artificial intelligence models:

Develop programs that learn from data, similar to how a person learns by experience. This process helps the systems make decisions by spotting useful patterns in the data.

Optimizing Computer Components:

Work together with hardware teams to ensure that the physical parts of computer hardware and the software run together efficiently work perfectly with each other to get the best performance.

Testing in Real Time:

Run these systems in conditions that mimic real energy trading to ensure they perform quickly and accurately by backtesting the models.

Simplifying Technical Language:

Translate detailed technical work into everyday language, making sure that everyone in the team and related trading desks can understand and benefit from the innovations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements for the Offered Position:

Level of Education Required:

Doctorate level (Ph.D.) in Computer Science / Master of Science.

Field(s) of Study:

Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or similar fields focused on designing and analyzing machine learning algorithms.

Minimum Number of Years of Experience Required:

At least 3 years of research or professional experience in Artificial Intelligence related areas

Profile:

The ideal candidate has a strong academic and practical background in both the theory of artificial intelligence and the optimization of computer hardware. They will have demonstrated experience through research, projects, or published work in top AI conferences or journals that bridges theoretical models and practical applications.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as the candidate must explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear terms for colleagues across all departments.
