About Our Group
Seagate Research Group (SRG) conducts cutting-edge research to drive innovation in data storage technologies, leveraging Seagate’s expertise in engineering, AI, embedded systems, electronics, and security. Our mission is to explore emerging technologies, develop proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and contribute to advancements that address the rapidly growing datasphere.
As an SRG Intern, you will be part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, gaining hands-on experience in research and development across key technology domains.
About the Role – You Will
As an intern with SRG, Throughout your internship, you will be involved in hands-on experiments, simulations, prototyping, and data analysis to validate and refine research concepts. You will also have opportunities to contribute to technical reports, presentations, and knowledge-sharing sessions within Seagate. You will work on impactful projects across various research domains, including:
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML) Intern - Apply predictive analytics and optimization techniques for data storage and HDD applications. Develop AI solutions at the edge and explore physics-informed ML models. Profile and analyze AI workloads for efficiency and performance improvements.
- Embedded Systems & Electronics Design Engineering - Design, develop, and test embedded systems for advanced data storage solutions. Work on firmware development for microcontrollers and embedded applications. Utilize schematic capture and PCB layout tools for electronic system prototyping.
- Mechanical Engineering - Conduct research in mechanical and thermal design for data storage platforms. Perform simulations, modeling, and design validation through experiments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new designs into Seagate’s technology roadmap.
- Data Trust Security Analysis Intern (Postgraduate Internship) - Investigate cryptographic techniques, biometrics, and data security methodologies. Develop security solutions for embedded systems and hardware-based authentication. Analyze evolving data security threats and explore countermeasures.
About You
We are looking for interns who are:
- Passionate about technology, research, and innovation.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to explore new problem-solving approaches.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communicators with the ability to present technical insights effectively.
- Able to commit to at least a 6-month internship program.
- The Internship program will Commence From Jan 2026 - May 2026
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as:
- AI/ML & Data Science: Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
- Embedded Systems & Electronics: Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Mechanical Design & Engineering: Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Data Trust & Security Intern: Computer Science, Information Security, Cryptography, or Bioengineering.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as Python, C, or C++.
- Experience with software tools, simulation environments, or hardware prototyping.
- A keen interest in cutting-edge technologies and emerging research trends.
Location:
The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass-transportation to work. Being a purpose built building, The Shugart has excellent employee recreational facilities.Take an active break at our badminton courts, table tennis tables, in-house gym and recreation rooms.
