Job Scope: The role is part of the second line Risk function providing oversight, governance and control and is responsible for overseeing the acceptance, ownership and management of financial and non-financial risks by local business units.
In particular, this role supports the firm’s management and oversight of investment and credit risks which help to safeguard the Group’s asset portfolio and associated risks including the investment processes and investment performance. The core responsibilities of this role will be to focus on driving the team’s credit and investment exposure analytics and reporting capabilities.The role suits a problem solving and creative mindset that has a desire to improve processes in order to extract the key messages. There is a preference for this role to be based in Singapore.
Principal accountabilities:
- Work directly with reporting tools and data systems and support the development of such tools in line with the Group’s objectives: Direct usage of investment management and reporting tools such as Aladdin (plus accompanying reporting modules), PowerBI, Bloomberg/Refinitiv and other related tools.
- Lead on data automation: Gain a solid understanding of the data warehouse including instilling best practices in order to maintain the highest levels of accuracy and understand how to integrate new tools or analytics.
- Drive the exposure and risk analytics strategy: Expectation to be the main conduit between the Risk team and the data engineers (based in the UK/Bangalore) in order to drive the Group’s overall exposure analysis on the asset portfolio and look to integrate new risk analytics that help to provide a granular analysis of the risk drivers within the Group’s portfolios. Support the team in building analytics that include forward looking indicators.
- Dashboard development: Lead on the visualisations within PowerBI for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Lead on the production of management reporting from an automation and development perspective: Manage the production process of regular Management Group Risk Committees, Group Investment Committees, as well as any other ad hoc data requests. Support the team in producing Management Information that clearly sets out the key messages and looking to continually improve and refresh the content.
- Manage and liaise with key stakeholders incl. vendor management: As well as daily interaction with the data engineers, other stakeholders include LBUs, reporting and data management teams with a particular focus on our internal and external asset managers as well as functions within the Group Head Office. Some vendor management in terms of articulating the team’s requirements and working with the internal market data and Procurement functions is expected.
- Support data transformation projects: Engage with project teams to provide feedback on the design, implementation, and road testing of internal data projects. In addition, act as the second-line risk steward and raise project risks identified through established forums to support project success.
- Assist on any ad hoc investment projects and operations support.
Core Competences Required and Desired Attributes:
- Experience in using front office tools such as Aladdin.
- A good understanding of how data warehouses operate.
- A solid understanding of data processes and good communication skills in order to translate requirements to the data engineers.
- A good understanding of front, middle and back-office operations would be desirable;
- Aladdin and PowerBI skills are a plus to support the team’s visualisation requirements incl. experience in dashboard developments;
- Data vendor experience is a plus;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build effective relationships and liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders;
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and accuracy and apply judgement to the results of analysis, all in the context of materiality and understand “the big picture”
- Able to work independently with a proactive mindset in challenging existing process
- Ability to work under pressure, flexibly deal with workloads, priorities, and deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively and support business units
