Specialist, IT Infrastructure & Operations - Choa Chu Kang
The IT Infrastructure Specialist will also work with other IT teams to ensure that the organization's IT systems are aligned with the business goals.
As a Specialist focusing on network and cyber security, you will be involved in maintaining our organization's network and security infrastructure. You will work with REC's appointed managed service provider (MSP) and vendors to ensure the stability and security of the local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).Your role will involve troubleshooting network performance issues, collaborating with other IT staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems, and providing technical support to end users.
You will play a contributing role in analyzing and assessing current network and security systems and proposing improvements to optimize performance and resiliency. You will stay updated on emerging technologies, cyber security threats and industry trends to ensure our network infrastructure remains efficient and secure.
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of networking protocols, network security principles, cyber security best practices and experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team are essential.

Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Investigate and resolve network outages or performance bottlenecks.
Network Infrastructure Management:
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of network equipment (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
- Maintain and update network documentation and diagrams.
Security System Implementation:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
- Support endpoint security solutions and antivirus deployments.
Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management:
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and assist in remediation efforts.
- Help in applying patches and updates to network devices and systems.
Incident Response and Security Monitoring:
- Participate in incident response activities during security breaches or incidents.
- Monitor security systems and analyze logs for potential threats.
User Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users.
- Educate users on security best practices and policies.
Compliance and Policy Adherence:
- Assist in enforcing network security policies and procedures.
- Ensure vendors' compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams on network and security projects.
- Document network configurations, security policies, and procedures.
Continuous Learning and Development:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and security trends.
- Pursue certifications and training to enhance skills (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA).
Teamwork and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve project goals.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and end-users.
Qualifications
Technical/ Professional- Degree in IT/IS related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in IT/IS industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Some project management experience
- Knowledge in ITIL v3 or later
- Certified or equipped with in-depth knowledge in server hosting operations, network, IT security and server/storage technology
- Good working knowledge of network technologies and cyber security best practice knowledge
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments
- Server and Storage, Cloud qualifications
- Managed/supported IT in a 24X7 environment is preferred
- Expected to work the necessary hours to complete duties and/or fulfill responsibility
- Domestic and international travelling may be required
