A Senior Social Worker provides care, support, and psychosocial services to students and their families, facilitating access to financial assistance in collaboration with various allied professionals. This involves managing interventions, community development work, and programs aimed at uplifting the professional practice of Social Work.

You will serve the needs of students and families across the different sectors within the Canossian Village and the wider community. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, school staff, families, and relevant agencies to provide timely care and ongoing support.
You are an expert in your area of specialty, guiding multi-disciplinary teams to implement and evaluate casework and group work, and contributing to the Village’s efforts in providing an enhanced service delivery through the Canossian Circle of Care.
You also provides professional development for others, including training, coaching, and consulting with relevant stakeholders. You will contribute to the development and review of processes and resources and participates in research and evaluation as needed.

You will perform clinical supervision of other social workers as required. Additionally, you are involved in managing service quality and performing department administration and operational tasks.

You are a professional who can work independently, is proactive, and possesses strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Casework - Assessment and Intervention Planning
  • Conducts intake, risk and needs assessments to evaluate and identify areas for intervention and follow up (e.g., referral to access internal and external community resources)
  • Conducts means testing and assist parents with applications related to financial assistance, schemes or programmes offered in the community
  • Conduct home visits as part of assessment or intervention follow-up
  • Conduct care/ case planning and goal setting with family
  • Prepare social reports
  • Facilitate family’s understanding of needs of child and programmes that can be offered to better support the child and family
Casework - Delivery of Intervention
  • Implement case and care plans and interventions for complex cases
  • Advocates on behalf of families to the different stakeholders for their needs
  • Interfaces with necessary agencies to integrate families into the community
  • Participate in collaborations during team meetings or case conferences with relevant stakeholders (e.g., teachers, facilitators, parents, external community agencies) to ensure holistic case management for child and family for complex cases
  • Review casework interventions for improvements
  • Conduct closure of cases upon achieving sustainable service outcomes for clients, families and communities
  • Provide guidance on utilising evidence-based practices for assessment, case formulation, intervention planning, implementation of intervention and progress evaluation
Casework – Performance of Clinical Administration and Operations
  • Comply and monitor compliance of supervisees to profession's ethical guidelines and organisation's clinical protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Manage feedback and provide guidance to supervisees on response to feedback from stakeholders
  • Complete documentations (e.g., intervention plans, progress reports, case notes, case updates to sectors, recording of contact hours for provision of secondment/ itinerant services) accurately and promptly, and ensure they are well-maintained. Review documentations for cases of supervisee(s) and provide supervision where needed
  • Monitor use of equipment and resources and ensure they are used in a cost-effective manner
  • Contribute towards the annual budget planning exercise (e.g., recommend procurement of equipment and resource material within the budget allocated for the financial year)
  • Review supervisee's caseload, outputs and outcomes and submit for reporting
  • Coordinate with sectors to manage team's workload and roster to enhance manpower usage, and streamline processes to ensure quality and timely provision of services
  • Contribute inputs for funding proposals for the purposes of obtaining grants/ support to achieve department outcomes
  • Develop clinical practice guidelines
  • Participate in the development of new clinical services
Group Work
  • Formulate group interventions, supervise facilitation of group work, and evaluate progress and effectiveness of group work across the organisation
  • lead development of specific programmes targeted at service gaps and service delivery issues, manage implementation of programmes, and conduct evaluation of programmes
People Development
  • Supervise and mentor Social Worker, students in Masters programmes and/or interns, ensuring that they are growing professionally and achieving their targets set for the year
  • Lead, manage, nurture and develop the personal growth opportunities of staff, whilst ensuring that the working environment is safe and encouraging
  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports, where applicable
Education and Experience
  • Degree/ Post Graduate Diploma/ Masters in Social Work
  • Registered or Accredited Social Worker
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the social service working with children and families
  • (Preferred) At least 1 year of experience in supervisory / management role
Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Possess knowledge of community resources and service provision for children with special needs and their families within the Singapore context (From early years to primary years and across EI, mainstream and SPED settings)
  • Capacity to work effectively in response to work demands (responding to client needs in different circumstances including critical incidents)
  • Possess the knowledge and skills to develop and implement emergency response and crisis management plans and policies, provide guidance on policies, plan development
