Geylang - Class Underwriter - Non Marine Treaty
Job summary
To underwriter, manage and produce non-marine treaty risks for Chaucer Singapore to formulate strategy, produce Business Plan and to contribute to the success of the Singapore Treaty Team.
Main duties- Primary Underwriting Responsibilities: Property Excess of Loss and Proportional Treaty.
- Secondary Underwriting Responsibilities: Non-property risks written within the Singapore non-marine treaty team.
- Agreement and negotiation of renewals and new business in accordance with underwriting authority
- Underwrite in accordance with the Business Plan.
- Work with manager to produce periodic business plans for review and agreement by CEO/Underwriter of Chaucer Singapore and Divisional Heads.
- Build on existing and develop new long term client relationships including where appropriate foreign travel.
- Work as part of the treaty team to establish Asia Pacific Chaucer Treaty products and grow Chaucer’s regional brand.
- Continuous Assessment of Rating Models.
- Monitor statistics, aggregates, pml’s, claims and report accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with and maintenance of Syndicate Systems.
- To assist in aspects of maintaining and operating the Binding Authority of Chaucer Singapore
- Agreement of endorsements / amendments / promised lines in accordance with underwriting authority
- Acceptance of individual declarations to specified line-slips
- Preparation, creating and maintaining monthly bordereau.
- Compliance with Lloyd’s, Chaucer’s and MAS regulations and Bylaws.

5 years of class or Lloyd’s experience
Technical skills

Ms Office - Windows Office 2000 and / or XP
Microsoft Word – Advanced
Microsoft Excel – Advanced
Understanding of aggregate monitoring models (RMS) or similar
Education & Experience
Essential
5 ‘O’ Level English and Maths grade ‘C’ or above (or equivalent)
3 ‘A’ Level passes (or equivalent)
Lloyd’s Introductory Test
ACII or equivalent qualifications as agreed

- Foreign Language Proficiency (Mandarin essential, others (Bahasa, Korean, etc) preferred.
