Job Summary

Responsible for day-to-day management, training, and development of professionals. Responsible for the formulation and supervision of approved accounting practices. Reviews financial statements; prepares and reviews various reports; implements accounting policies and documents technical research related to accounting issues.
Serves as technical expert to internal clients and provides resolution of complex and/or high-risk issues regarding assigned financial reports and analysis for APAC. Advises, mentors and supports professionals' activities in accordance with company policy and procedures for financial reporting.

Works under general direction.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

  • Provides guidance for complex journal entries and improvement of statutory accounts
  • Management Reporting:
  • May review variance explanations and resolution
  • Approval of alternative solutions to prevent continued issues
  • May provide guidance to team on escalated cost coding questions

Audits:

  • Advise on audit issues and review financial statements
  • Interact with external auditors for escalated issues
  • May serve as primary point of contact for consolidated company auditors

Compliance:

  • May review limited complex government compliance filings; may manage escalated issues
  • Ensures compliance with government regulations

Financial Applications and Systems:

  • May help troubleshoot system issues
  • Provide expert guidance and may support various system implementations and enhancements related to financial systems

Consolidation (Statutory):

  • Reviews statutory account analysis
  • Presents results to management . Assesses new firms and advises placement in complex structure; reviews and approves more complex consolidation journal entries
  • Acts as liaison for creation of new firms with other departments

Consolidation (Corporate Reporting):

  • Reviews financial statements and reports for accuracy
  • Oversee coordination of monthly and quarterly financial deliverables to management
  • Reviews and approves complex consolidation entries

Account Reconciliations:

  • May review reconciliations as needed
  • Ensures reconciliations are being completed
  • Identifies and or reviews risk and opportunities and assesses reasonableness of balances; makes determination of action needed
  • Recognizes impact of interfirm transactions and related elimination process; coordinates resolution of issues
  • Reviews and approves alternative solutions to prevent continued issues

Technical Guidance:

  • Recommends and implements policies related to accounting procedures

Supervisory and Resource Management:

  • As a manager, provides direction to an assigned group
  • Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development
  • Participates in disciplinary actions, employee relations and workforce planning
  • Aligns individual report's goals with that of department, business and corporation
  • Evaluates staff training needs to prepare for growth and development
  • Leads development, communication and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes for the assigned workgroup
  • Ensures adherence to corporate and business programs
  • Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities
  • Champions continuous improvement efforts
  • Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements
  • Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities

Internal Clients:

  • Regular interactions with the businesses including DFOs, upper management and executives; Legal, HR, Accounting Operations, Payroll, Treasury, Tax and Financial Applications

Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master Business Administration (MBA) or MS in Accounting, preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or certified accountant, a plus

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Intermediate
  • Microsoft Access, Basic
  • Knowledge of Black and Veatch Systems, Advanced
  • Knowledge of percent complete accounting, Advanced
  • Technical accounting knowledge, Advanced

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 10+ years related experience, Supervisory experience required.
