Trade Finance and Operations Associate - Geylang

Location: Suntec City, Singapore

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM)

The successful candidate will be involved in managing and executing all trade finance and operations processes, ensuring the smooth execution of trade deals from contract to claim.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage and negotiate Letters of Credit (LC) formats with counterparties, ensuring the accuracy and timely processing of LC/SBLC transactions (e.g., issuance, amendments, acceptance).
• Prepare documents (e.g., invoices, LOI, and other documents) in line with the terms and conditions of the export LC.
• Review contracts and provide feedback on trade finance-related matters.
• Handle full set of shipping documentation (import & export documents including invoices, bill of lading, packing list, certificate of origin, permit declarations, insurance, etc.).
• Coordinate with suppliers for export/import shipment preparation, ensuring timely clearance & delivery in compliance with documentation and customer requests.
• Provide post-deal operational support, managing the process from contract to claim to ensure all operations are handled professionally and safely.
• Upon deal conclusion, assist in preparing contracts in accordance with deal recaps.
• Collaborate with traders on shipping operations, including preparing charter parties, fixture notes, and coordinating loading and pricing dates.
• Manage operational matters, such as checking on loading dates, cargo readiness, berth availability, and ensuring vessels arrive within laycan.
• Ensure trade finance operations are conducted efficiently and that all securities are in place prior to cargo loading (including issuing/receiving trade securities).
• Ensure all shipping documentation is issued in good order and perform all post-deal activities such as demurrage claims, quality and quantity claims, and freight payments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, vessel owners, and agents to ensure all operational processes, from loading to discharge, are carried out smoothly.

Key Requirements:

• At least 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in trade finance, banking operations, or a similar role within major trading houses or banking operations (oil & gas experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of trade finance processes, including LC, collections, shipping documentation, contract review, LC issuance, guarantees, and payment management.
• Experience in managing full sets of shipping documentation and post-deal operations (demurrage, claims, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Degree in Business, Accountancy, Banking & Finance, or a related field from a *reputable university*.
• Excellent team player with strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with traders and operators on all trade finance-related matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in oil & gas trading or with commodity trading houses.
• Proficiency in relevant trade finance systems and tools.
• Knowledge of international trade regulations and shipping operations.
