Bukit Merah - Senior Manager, Global Manufacturing
About role
He / she is responsible in executing direction, strategy, planning, and delivery of the company’s manufacturing activities worldwide (flavor house, beer, tobacco, printing and others). He / She shall take lead on commissioning, start-up and streamlining manufacturing operations, reduce inefficiency in operations and optimized the product cost for the plant / projects under his / her care.
He/she shall work closely with HQ team on execution of new and on-going product / machinery / factory operational projects. He/she must comply with yearly schedule for factory reporting and reviewing. He/she should work closely with factory team on production process improvement and ensure training is in place that projects are completed, and handed over to normal operation successfully.
He/she will be responsible for reviewing current project management and production practices and perform gap analysis to identified area for improvement. After alignment with senior management on the gaps and action needed, he/she will lead the efforts to implement changes and provide training to close the gaps.He/she will ensure proper documentation of improvement done in the factory and periodically provide update to Senior Management.
Responsibilities- Ensure that all global / local projects under his / her care are covered in a holistic approach closing all gaps identified from the beginning until the end of the project with the goal of sustainable operation post project handover. This includes feasibility assessment of product design development to ensure a successful and efficient commercial manufacturing process.
- Oversee, recommend and follow-up on daily global / local project management and execution activities including immediate escalation of major issues, SOP development , and training of local factory personnel.
- Responsible for assuring that all manufactured products from new / on-going projects under his / her care are made in accordance with prescribed Process Descriptions and in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure for new / on-going projects under his / her care that the facility / machinery are in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Drive adherence to safety policies and procedures across the organisation.
- Streamlining production processes and cost optimization by reducing complexities, optimizing resources and improving efficiency during project execution.
- Closely monitor progress of Capex projects in the factory and provide support if needed to ensure projects are implemented according to the plan timelines.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to factory team for them to achieve key business objectives involving quality, productivity, order fulfillment etc.
- Accountable for manufacturing KPI performance and product cost performance on the projects under his/her care.
- Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements in terms of cost, quality, and responsiveness.
- Capable of driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results.
- Evaluate the assignment of resources to ensure successful project execution.
- Keep abreast of industry technical changes and make recommendations for training of supervisor personnel.
- Provide leadership to the factory teams; ensure right level of expertise and proper succession planning process aimed at smooth delivery of all department deliverance including managing and reporting of revenue and manufacturing budget besides design and management of all agreements.
- Any other ad-hoc tasks by Senior Management (representative/owner of business unit)
- Drive adherence to safety initiatives, policies and procedures across the manufacturing facilities as part of the projects under his/her care.
- Drive energy saving and cost reduction initiative.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Supply network, Planning, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in the tobacco industry, background in process/manufacturing engineering or product/process development/Projects Management etc.
- Demonstrates proven track record of Manufacture management, Technical, Product and Process Expertise, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Certified/Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma Tools and Principles
- Organized and demonstrates good Leadership Management Skills
- Proven Management with similar managerial trade production experience in Multiple Project Management with strong planning, organization, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in a highly collaborative environment with excellent written and oral bilingually effective and good communications skills.
- Demonstrated experienced running manufacturing facilities in both prototype and series production programs with the ability to achieve high-level results within a challenging environment.
- Proven ability to reduce manufacturing unit cost and increase contribution to gross margins.
- Good level of liaison skills and ability to meet deadlines and targets.
- Good team-work skills actively involve colleagues across the business, builds the benefits of collaborative working.
