Analyst/Associate, Capital Markets Origination - Toa Payoh

Purpose

The role is designed to:

• To support the senior leads within the Capital Markets Origination team to originate and execute on capital markets products to our customers.
• This role contributes to providing consistent coverage of clients, as well as the identification, proposal, and execution of transactions.
• This role will also provide assistance in the execution of USD benchmark transactions launched into the Australian and Asian time zone with responsibility of engaging with global sales teams, managing orderbooks, and transition across time zones.
• This role will also work with syndicate and sales to originate and execute Private Placements to our customers
• Contribute to the strategic objectives of the Capital Markets team, in line with Corporate Finance, CIB and Enterprise strategies

• Understanding of debt markets and how market conditions affect pricing and funding opportunities.
• Ability to write effectively about markets, opportunities and NAB’s capability, to produce high quality RFPs, deal recommendations, deal write ups and other requirements of the role.
• Knowledge of client segments and an understanding of factors affecting clients’ funding needs
• Ability to analyse and understand businesses and business risks and apply that understanding to find credit risks.
• Ability to work closely with syndicate and investor sales to execute USD benchmark transactions, and originate and execute private placements for our customers.
• Analytical skills and developing business acumen.
• Strong ability and enjoyment of working within a team and contributing to a team’s success and happiness.
• Knowledge of risk and compliance and awareness of the ever-changing risks such as market risk, financial risk, non-financial risk, regulatory changes, and the application to product, process and how we deal with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Time management tools and techniques to ensure all day-to-day work, deal team, operational, people leadership and business planning (as required) activities are completed

• Support senior team members in managing coverage of clients, understanding debt markets, and identifying opportunities.
• Actively participate in deal teams and support the deal process in conjunction with our Syndicate teams.
• Provide support through several ways which may include provision of pricing and market updates, writing of pitches and RFPs, research, active file management, following up on client queries and engagement with other stakeholders.
• Actively take ownership of USD transactions during the Australian and Asian time zones, as well as engaging with syndicate and sales for the origination and execution of private placements
• Contribute to CIB and CF goals
• Contribute to the management of client relationships and originate and execute transactions in support of the Capital Markets Origination Directors.
• Understand market conditions, pricing, issuance activity, regulations and other factors influencing potential outcomes for our clients.

• 2+ years’ experience in the financial markets industry
• Banking experience in functions such as DCM, syndicate, client coverage, credit, or specialist product areas.
• Working in a team to meet deadlines and client expectations
• Writing clearly and effectively to achieve end goals, whether this be for internal or external stakeholders
• Tertiary qualified with a Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or similar and/or post graduate degree
• Preference for MAS licensing
