Your Job
As an Automation Design Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Automation Engineering team, focusing on machine design and process improvements. Your primary purpose involves designing and developing automated assembly machines for production, improving existing processes, and providing technical support.You will be tasked with creating machine designs and managing drawing updates within specified budgets and timelines, while working with cross-functional teams and occasionally traveling within Asia and the USA.
Our Team
You will join a dynamic team within the DataCom and Specialty Solutions Division, fostering collaboration across all internal departments and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers. This role emphasizes teamwork and effective communication with various stakeholders to facilitate successful project outcomes.
What You Will Do- Design and develop semi-automatic and fully automatic machines or fixtures for new products, focusing on quality and cost considerations.
- Conceptualize and create innovative mechanical and automation machines, developing detailed mechanical designs using NX software.
- Improve existing machines to meet new requirements and ensure all drawings, including 3D and 2D designs, are up to date.
- Conduct machine design reviews to ensure designs meet requirements and provide technical advice and troubleshooting support during machine assembly or debugging phases.
- Document tooling spare lists and provide training to process and maintenance engineers, technicians, and operators.
- Engage in brainstorming sessions to apply new technologies that enhance efficiency and process capabilities, contributing to organizational profitability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review new product designs for manufacturability and integrate mechanical designs with overall machine architecture.
- Build and test prototypes of mechanical and automation systems, analyze test data, and refine designs to meet performance standards.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance machine performance, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test protocols, and user manuals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous development.
- Drive innovation by applying new technologies and methodologies to solve engineering challenges.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Diploma or Degree in Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of machine design experience.
Proficient in designing machines, jigs, and fixtures with guidance.
Capable of independently completing 2D engineering and using 3D software.
Adaptable to changes and the company's culture, with the ability to self-learn and work collaboratively across various teams.
What Will Put You Ahead
Experience in the Mechanical or Manufacturing field.
Preferably with connector process working experience.
Knowledge and experience in using NX software.
