Job Description:

Role: The Deputy Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing logistics operations, ensuring the seamless movement of materials and equipment to support project execution. This role demands strategic planning, supply chain optimization, cost management, and risk mitigation to enhance operational efficiency within JGC’s projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Logistics trategy & Execution:
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with project requirements.
  • Identify and optimize transportation methods, routes, and modes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  1. Supply Chain Management:
  • Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment.
  • Streamline supply chain processes to ensure efficiency and minimize costs
  1. Transportation & Customs Compliance:
  • Coordinate international transportation and ensure adherence to customs regulations.
  • Collaborate with customs authorities and logistics providers to facilitate smooth clearance procedures.
  1. Project Schedule & Coordination:
  • Monitor logistics timelines and align them with project schedules.
  • Proactively address delays or disruptions to maintain project continuity.
  1. Risk & Compliance Management:
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with logistics operations.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
  1. Cost Optimization & Budget Control:
  • Manage logistics budgets, control expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, vendors, and logistics service providers.
  1. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead and mentor the logistics team, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across departments.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Liaise with project managers, procurement teams, engineering teams, and external vendors.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and partners.
  1. Quality Assurance & Performance Monitoring:
  • Implement quality control measures to enhance logistics processes.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Project Management: Strong ability to plan, execute, and oversee logistics operations within an EPC project framework.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Expertise in procurement, inventory control, and logistics efficiency strategies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of logistics management systems, transportation methods, and customs procedures.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage logistics teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset to resolve logistics challenges promptly and efficiently.
  • IT & Data Analysis: Proficiency in logistics software, data analysis, and reporting tools.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree/ Diploma in relevant field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in logistics, including shipping and freight forwarding.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an EPC company managing logistics for large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of international trade, logistics regulations, and customs procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Excel, etc.
  • Skills in advanced software tools such as Order Management Systems (OMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and Fulfillment Aggregators will be advantageous but not compulsory. These software solutions help streamline logistics processes, improve visibility, and enhance decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • The candidate should be independent, self-motivated, result driven and have a good sense of team working skills.
  • Good attitude and possess the willingness to learn on the job.
  • Adaptable to fast paced work environment, able to work under pressure, able to finish assigned work on time.
  • Good communicative skill, able to interact with people of all levels and teamwork.
  • Fluency in English is required to communicate with their diverse team and stakeholders effectively
  • Candidate who can join ASAP, will be given the 1st priority.

  • Contract job| Contract’s duration: May 2025 – Aug 2027
  • AL/ Home Leave & Working hours per week: will be shared with the shortlisted candidates

Ideal Candidate should have:

□ A dynamic Logistics Manager with extensive level of experience in Shipping, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Procurement, Heavy Haul Transportation, Contract Management and Ground Operations with large reputed International Freight forwarders and leading EPC Contractor across India and UAE.

□ Possess in-depth knowledge of Middle East, Asia, and other global markets, proven expertise in planning and executing end-to-end transportation of project cargo and super heavy equipment for mega projects in in Shipping, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Procurement, Oil and Gas Sector.

□ Competent in liaising with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, international & domestic shipping lines / freight forwarders, ship owners, Customs officials, Port authorities, Ministries and other governmental authorities including internal stakeholders, for seamless shipping operations, in full compliance to the export, import and all statutory regulations.

□ Possess excellent interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills with proven track record of utilizing a process-oriented approach and transportation techniques in accomplishing project objectives and goals

□ Meticulous in implementing HSE plans and strictly comply to the Project HSE procedures and global standards.

□ Proven track record for strategizing and establishing process and operating procedures streamlining workflow and creating safe work environment to enhance productivity.

□ Proactive and team oriented with proven acumen to lead and manage diverse and large teams using strong communication & organizational skills, out of box thinking and innovative problem-solving abilities

□ Experience in directing the cross-functional & cultural teams using interactive & motivational leadership; acknowledged for leading and mentoring the team to achieve resource wise productivity & optimization.
