We are looking for a motivated applicant for a position in the Gallery's International Partnerships (IP) team. This position is suitable for applicants who:
- are passionate about art and believe in its power and necessity;
- want to contribute to raising the awareness and profiling of the art and artists of Singapore and Southeast Asia at the international level;
- relish the idea of working with museums, art spaces and cultural workers in Southeast Asia and beyond;
- are interested and invested in the role art museums play in the global ecology of art as well as of cultural diplomacy;
- have at least 3 years' experience working in a public programmes, curatorial, or similar capacity
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Manager (International Partnerships & Curatorial Programmes), your responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Work with programming and curatorial teams to realise collaborations with partners in Southeast Asia, from conceptualisation to execution.
- Manage and support initiatives that connect the world to Singapore and Southeast Asia institutions and artists.
- Plan and host visits by visiting foreign dignitaries (e.g. ambassadors, political appointment holders, heads of states), and exchanges with colleagues of overseas museums.
- Liaise with relevant Singapore agencies and ministries on international relations and cultural diplomacy initiatives.
- Plan and/or undertake work trips in support of the aforementioned initiatives.
- Manage grant applications in support of the aforementioned initiatives.
- Support budgetary and administrative aspects of all the IP team's initiatives, including managing the Gallery's membership in international organisations (e.g. ICOM, CIMAM) and its extensive database of international contacts.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the museum, arts and heritage sector, or equivalent, with keen interest and knowledge on global ecology of art and international relations.
- Degree in the humanities and curatorial / museum studies (or equivalent qualification).
- Proficiency in a Southeast Asian language in addition to English strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to exercise cultural sensitivity.
- Resourcefulness, initiative and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent writing, and presentation skills and proficiency with standard work applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with image editing applications (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, canva) also desirable.
- Availability to undertake overseas work trips when needed.
