IT Business Intelligence Analyst, Data & Analytics - Hougang

This role assists to build the capability around Eu Yan Sang on data, analytics and reporting. The availability of data and how it can provide insights from Omnichannel view which is fast becoming important for our decision-making process. This Senior Executive role resides in Group IT team and reports to Manager, IT.

Key aspects of this role:

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  1. Roadmap for Data & Analytics
  • Overall responsibility for providing Data & Analytics solutions to support the Company’s digital transformation journey by enabling data driven strategic decision making. This includes building a Data & Analytics roadmap in alignment with Group IT Strategy, incorporating new analytics capabilities, planning for system transformation, and retiring obsolete systems.
  • Partner with IT and Finance teams to build investment and support budgets in line with the Data & Analytics roadmap.
  • Identify, plan and execute change management activities around the new Data & Analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure Enterprise Architecture, system integrations, security, governance, compliance and DRP/BCP are coherent and cost-effective.
  1. BI Solutions delivery for MS D365 project
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from multiple data sources that include but not limited to the ERP system, DTC solutions and Marketing platforms.
  • Work closely with management team on business KPIs based on new master data and business processes defined in the new ERP system.
  • Oversee the deployment of data to the data warehouse including identifying and mitigating risks involved with the transference of data.
  • Implementing integration strategies between the legacy and new databases.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, unstructured data, and data modeling.
  • Automated and manual testing of existing data for migration.
  • Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure team to deploy software and hardware upgrades to leverage on big data use cases.
  1. BI enhancements and maintenance
  • Experience in software development life cycle, preferably using Agile Methodology.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Power BI reports, familiar with Power Query and DAX.
  • Perform code review, SIT, UAT, user training, deployment, housekeeping.
  • Azure DevOps Services: Azure Repos (knows Git commands and Git best practice).
  • Manage and monitor Azure cloud resources (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Analysis Services).
  • Keen in working on ETL, work with vendor to manage data models.
  • Good at SQL to perform query refactoring.
  • Manage data Row-Level Security user access.
  • Prepare functional and technical documentation, provide functional and technical support to business users.
  • Provide support for the maintenance of databases/data systems.
  • Validation of the format of existing data and identification of gaps and inconsistencies.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
  • Process invoices from vendor timely.
  1. Others
  • Integrating Data from eCommerce and Marketing platforms to provide more holistic analytics.
  • Responsible for new design based on MS recommendation of data lake.
  • Machine learning introduction in key areas for the organization.
  • Budget management.
  • Part of strategic Group IT team to define Data Strategies for the whole organization.
EDUCATION
  • Degree holder in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or equivalent discipline.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
  • At least 3 - 4 years of working experience with proven success as BI analyst or business data analyst.
  • Experience in data models, databases (SQL etc), ETL framework and reporting packages (Power BI).
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as BI Analyst.
  • Knowledge in Power Platform and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is a plus.
  • An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving.
  • Experience in the retail or manufacturing industry is a plus.
