AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist engineers in designing vehicle components and systems (e.g., engines, transmissions, brakes).
• Repair or replace faulty components such as brakes, engines, transmissions, steering systems, and suspension.
• Install accessories and parts (e.g., air-conditioning systems, infotainment systems, reverse cameras, performance enhancements).
• Help in the development of prototypes for new automotive technologies.
• Conduct tests and experiments on vehicle systems to evaluate performance.
• Use diagnostic tools and data collection systems to measure efficiency, emissions, and durability.
• Analyze test results and report findings to engineers for further refinement.
• Ensure all components meet safety and quality standards.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, or software malfunctions in vehicles.
• Work with engineers to improve fuel efficiency, performance, and emissions control.
• Assist in solving manufacturing or assembly issuesduring production and setting up production processes for new vehicle models.
• Ensure proper use of materials, tools, and assembly techniques.
• Monitor assembly lines to ensure adherence to engineering specifications. Support engineers in implementing new vehicle safety features.
• Stay updated on automotive trends and emerging technologies(e.g., electric vehicles, autonomous systems).
• Assist in research for alternative fuels, hybrid systems, and new materials.
• Maintain detailed records of tests, experiments, and modifications.Prepare technical reports and presentationsfor engineers and managers.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and environmental standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum degree is required
• Minimum 10 years experience required.
• Certifications like ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) can be beneficial.
• Must have experience with diagnostic and testing tools (oscilloscopes, dynamometers, emission analyzers).
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems (mechanical and electrical).
• Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Understanding of vehicle safety standards and regulations
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairing vehicles, extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
• Knowledge of automotive electronics, sensors, and software systems
• Physically fit and able to handle workshop environment. Abillty to lift and handle tools or vehicle components.
• Comfortable working in manufacturing plants, workshops, and testing labs.
• Some roles may require travel to test sites or production facilities.
• Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Ability to work after-hours if required. Preferably someone willing to do night shift
• Good communication skills. Must be able to read technical manuals and drawings
• Must be able to work on week ends and strictly off on weekdays.
• Prefer someone comfortable with working in awkward positions or cramped spaces
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces
