Finance Manager (6 months contract) role with a fintech MNC - Toa Payoh

Our client is a fast-growing fintech MNC. Their office is based in town and the co practices WFH 1 day per week. This is a 6 months contract role. There is a chance that the role may be extended for another 6 months for a good performer.
Manager, Finance
This role will be a key supporting member of the firm’s APAC and Group Finance team. As the Manager, Finance you will support:
- entities in the APAC region and ensure compliance with financial reporting, local audit and tax requirements
ii) group reporting work including financial consolidation preparation and review and group related projects.
You will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy of the monthly financial reporting and work closely with our FP&A and regional finance teams. Your role will be a combination of routine financial closing activities, accounting advisory to business teams and project based ad-hoc initiatives to continuously improve the Controllership team within the MNC.This role gives broad exposure to both entity level controllership and group financial reporting
Responsibilities:
- Participate in financial closing and accounting control procedures on our monthly reporting processes including journal entry, balance sheet, P&L reviews prior to submission to FP&A
- Support financial statement audits and tax filings and liaise with external auditors and advisors in resolving issues.
- Support and drive a wide range of group improvement projects and accounting advisory for the Controllership team within the MNC, these projects may include the following:
- Enabling new products in our reporting structure
- Standardizing our process and driving efficiencies
- Accounting memos and advisory and work flows documentation i.e. M&A, ESOP/RSUs, Revenue recognition and control process
- Any process improvement that will help the MNC’s controllership function to grow and mature to the next level.
- Closely collaborate with product or business teams that require finance support on new product developments
- Support routine Compliance reporting to local Monetary authorities
- Support Group Finance quarterly close process and facilitating the Group audit with our auditors
- Support Group related financial accounting and operations projects locally and globally
- Close collaboration with other departmental teams e.g. Tax, Treasury, HR, Product, Engineering team on company or group wide projects and change management
- Responsibilities of the role may develop over time.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, CPA or equivalent qualification preferred. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 6 + years of finance experience with relevant exposure to the controllership function. Big Four audit experience is beneficial (but not a must)
- Extensive experience in a financial controlling role (including financial close, accounting, financial reporting) and proven track record of building and expanding these capabilities within an organization.
- Strong knowledge on IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards and being able to apply them in practice.
- Understanding of financial services, fintech businesses and regulatory environments. Fintech/Tech experience will be useful but this is really not a must
- Hands-on with a proven track record in managing complex, local or international projects focused on process improvement initiatives
- Strong communicator and ability to interact with all levels within the organization
- A fast learner
- Confident, creative and innovative thought leadership and communication skills to deliver impact in a hyper growth environment
- Experience working independently and navigating ambiguity
- Able to start work at short notice and can commit to a 6 months contract (there is a chance that this role may be extended for another 6 months for a good performer)
